Apple released its iOS 4.2.1 updates for all its iOS devices that brings a major update for iPad users with multitasking ability, unified mailbox and so on like what iPhone and iPod Touch customers had in iOS 4.0.

So, what will you have in the update of iOS 4.2 with your 3GS?

The good news and the unhappy news on the texting application. The good news is you are now able to set different texting tones for different contacts. The unhappy news is the new texting tones are only available for iPhone 4.

The Airplay feature allows you to stream your media wirelessly from your iOS devices to your Apple TV, Airport Extreme and Airplay enabled speakers with a single tap on the Airplay option.

Next, you are now able to print your documents and photos wirelessly.

The other feature is you are now able to slide to adjust the volume output by swiping left again after the first widgets in your multitasking bar. Personally, I prefer pressing the volume buttons.

Last but not least, you may now change the fonts of the texts in your Notes in within 3 different fonts.

In a nutshell, the overall performance after updating to iOS 4.2 in 3GS runs as smooth as usual. GREEN LIGHT for this update!
