A Day of Cookout With Friends Off The City

Had an awesome cookout with the committees in a house somewhere off the busy city and towns. Everyone was either cooking or preparing meals and dishes in the evening after our meeting session. I was actually preparing the potato salad with mayonnaise and eggs. I would have to admit that my preparation was just too slow. Nevertheless, it was also my first cooking myself. Of course, there were still some minor helps from my friends. Well, the dishes prepared that night were delicious. Despite the supreme spiciness of the tom yam, it will tastes good for everyone I assume.

It was an awesome cookout day we had. It seems like somehow I started to be in love with cooking from that day onwards. Been surfing the webs for easiest and delicious recipes until today although me, myself deeply know that I does not cook that well and seriously need more practices so I can cook for myself when furthering my studies. Does anyone has any recipe blogs or websites to introduce? I would love to browse the webs!

Penang Food Paradise #1 : Penang Lor Mee

Lor Mee! This Chinese-inspired dish served with starchy gravy with yellow noodles and rice vermicelli (known as bee hun). This dish is eaten by and also very well known to the Hokkiens especially those who speak Min Nan dialogue. The ingredients added into the noodles are usually ngo hiang, fish cake, fish, round and flat meat dumplings (usually chicken or pork), half a boiled egg, and other items depending on the stall and the price paid. Vinegar and garlic can be added as an optional item. The dish is also eaten with red chili.

There is a place that is a very first location that rans into my mind when you talk about Lor Mee. This shop named Kedai Kopi Seng Thor is the coffee shop where I have my Lor Mee since I was just a small kid even until now, I am still lovin' it! As said it usually comes with red chilies and the garlic is an optional when you may request for it if you wish to. The coffee shop is a corner lot located at the turning point of Lebuh Carnarvon to Lebuh Kimberley. The price per bowl is RM2.50 onwards. It opens in the morning until noon depending on how huge the crowd is.

King of Fruits In Southeast Asia, Durians

Durians, durians, and durians! There were so many durians available for sale everywhere especially on the roadsides during the durian season which was until a month back in my hometown, Penang. I had them, yes I really had them before I do not have the chance to. Indeed, I had them almost everyday on the weekdays together with my parents. It was so enjoyable having the durians bits by bits slowly while tasting its unique flavor in my mouth. Among all the durians with specific code names, kinds. Personally, I love red prawns (ang heh), D-24, hor lor, and so on. As long as the flesh of the durians are orange in color, I will looove to have them!

This was one of my favorite kind of durian. Are you drooling now?

If you are a tourist traveling around Southeast Asia especially in Malaysia, do stop by on the stalls selling durians and have a try on the durians of different kinds. Ah, how I wish to have them even though if I am furthering my studies oversea. Perhaps could they be selling in the hypermarket stores frozen? I would say I prefer durians as fresh as the durian in the photos taken above. My hometown, Penang, is the best place ever on earth! Cheers!

Spice Garden, Days Before Spiced Parasailing

A few days before, preceeding week of the spiced parasailing with my cousin, my friends and I visited the Spice Garden. That was my first step into that garden full of spices and yet, mosquitoes. I wonder what will all of us be without the repellent provided in the counter.

Mizzi Bistro and meeting up with Chawin in Tesco Tanjung Pinang were our next stop after this where we had lots of laughters with the photos we took with the photo booth from the iPad 2. I am yet to upload those crazy photos into the Facebook, someone urges me please! I am busy to be on-the-line these days.

Gala Night of American University Program

The most successful event of the year, AUP Gala Night, were held in Equatorial Hotel on 2nd of July 2011. The appreciations go to the AUPEC committee who ran this event especially for those who worked very hard for this event. The theme of the event was One Night In Vegas, which there were several tables for gambling, not a monetary gamble but they were just gambling by figures with the chips we created. It was a fabulous night not only for our course mates, the Principal of INTI International College Penang, Dr. Michael Yap, together with other staffs were also enjoyed the event very much. The gambling games were awesome to all. Being responsible on the sound systems, there are only a few photos taken by me in the event that night.

Being a stalker on the Facebook is kind of tiring job, looking at the squarish illuminated 13 inches box. It feels great to have positive comments on the videos that were edited by me. My goal was to reflect the life of the AUPians without the means of insulting, if I do so, the apology goes to the victims. For those who missed out the awesome videos, you can now watch them right below this post, enjoy!

Spiced Parasailing In Penang Batu Ferrenghi

My cousin and I had a short trip in Penang before he furthered his studies to Singapore few a week ago. Visited the Spice Garden after the Hard Rock Hotel at which you will be heading to Teluk Bahang to where the Penang National Park is located. It was the second time I visited the garden. The Spice Garden is quite interesting with the names and the description of the usage of the spices, you will find something rare or something silly of course if you keep your eyes on them. There are several spices especially those with flowers are not available because I do not see any flower on the plants after reading through the description. Despite the spices and flowers, hammock and a huge swing can be found in the middle of the garden. I looove the huge swing!

After spending an hour or two in the Spice Garden, we had our lunch at the KFC's before we headed for water sports on the beach next to Park Royal Hotel's. We went there specially for parasailing if not, jetski-ing will be our backup plan. It was worth to wait for the direction of the wind to be changed and settled down before we were allowed for such sport. The feeling and the view, are so different. We were so excited parasailing in the air looking down on Batu Ferringhi. Another way of enjoying sceneries from a different point of view heh?

Credits to my cousin who owns this video camera with the capability of shooting a High Definition videos either in the water or not with its head bands on his head recording the happening. It is an awesome video recording we had for that day.

The Large Fingertip Toy, Apple iPad 2

A computer or a tablet device? It seems to be a big issue that matters almost every buyers across the world with the continuously advanced technologies everyday. A computer, in fact, does a lot more tasks than a tablet device as in serious photo and video editing, software developments, downloading any formats of files and folders, multitasking, and so on. While on the other hand, a tablet device is almost similar to a computer despite the softwares that are developed specially for computers. Multitasking that is working in the computers are the programs running in the background instead of being freezed in the background in tablets. After making a list of pros and cons in the decision of upgrading my computer or grabbing just a tablet, I decided to purchase Apple iPad 2.

photo 1photo 2photo 3

Why iPad 2 instead of Motorola Zoom and other tablets? The simplest reason is, the iOS tablet is more well known in its applications store filled with more than 425,000 applications. Of coarse, unlike other os, certain applications from the AppStore were specially developed just for the iPads. That was one of my reasons on getting that iOS tablet. I am not a serious gamer so getting it instead of a new computer is the wisest choice to me. Today, it partially replaces my computer. Instead of bringing a heavy laptop in the bag, I usually go out with the iPad. Together with the Camera Connection Kit, I am able to transfer my photos from my cameras right into my iPad. I assume the applications' list acknowledges you on my iPad's usage.

Applications List on my iPad:
iBooks
Flipboard
Skype
Twitter
iFitness
Photoshop
Live FX
iMovie
Pages
iFile
Asphalt 6
Cut the Rope
.. News Apps

iPad users out there, any applications to introduce or to share? (:

Hill of Youth Park Penang

Coincidence or not, met up a friend in a mall after viewing his profile in the morning accidentally after years without. Together, we hung out for hiking in the Youth Park Hill. A group of hikers, Jing Yong, Shane, Foong, Chawin, and I were enjoying the hike that evening after meeting up. Unforgettable conversations we had on the way up the hill. Nonetheless, we were cracking out jokes on the hill. I felt silly and stupid being pranked by them on a bizzare happening.

It was a dinner time! After going down from the hill, we headed towards James Foo Restaurant for western food but we were hit by a disappointment. Instead, we went to Ingolf for our German sausages on the hillside so there goes the disappointment, disappeared because of the delicious dinner we all had. Well, I was very happy to get a chance to hang out with my friends especially Jing Yong who left us since the high school. Hope to see you soon, Jing Yong! All the best in your internship and your studies too!
